Hi, I have been using the ASROCK Z170 Extreme 7+ mainboard for about a year now (first with Skylake, now with Kabylake, Bios 7.40) and all of a sudden the USB 3.1 / A port on the front panel no longer works under Windows 10 x64 (creators update).

However, the USB-C port on the front panle works correctly.

Also, if I plug in a flash drive with an LED in the USB-A port, it flashes, so the port should receive power.

What strikes me is that the usb-c port works. I have conneced the front panel to SATA_EXP0 and no M2 port is in use. I checked the cabling in the case but found that all cables from the front panel seem to be tightly connected to the connectors on the motherboard/PSU.

Anyone has a similar problem?

Thanks for your help

Georg

If this occurred after the Creators update Windows probably overwrote the drivers. Are there any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager? Have you tried unplugging and plugging in? Did it start acting up after the cpu swap?

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I did a little screwing yesterday and unplugged and replugged the SATA Express connector on the front panel and now it works. Maybe it really just loosened a few weeks ago, when I installed my graphics card.

Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
