Hi!
I am planning to buy a ssd pci-e nvme card for my PC but I have a question:
When connecting this card, will any Sata port be deactivated£
The manual says that both m.2 ports support both SATA and pci-3 nvme but my concern is that it disables some Sata since I use 8.

Thanks!

Hi fvega70,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

According to our specification, M2_1, SATA3_0, and SATA3_1 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled. M2_2, SATA3_4, and SATA3_5 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.

In your case, if all M.2 slots are in use, the motherboard still has 2 SATA ports available (SATA3_2, SATA3_3).

If you are using a PCIe SSD (an SSD looks like a graphic card), then no SATA port will be disabled.

Please refer to the link for more information about Z390 Phantom Gaming 6's specification.

All the best,

I ask, so if I don't have a PCI graphics card and I install only 1 ssd m.2 pci-e nvme on M2_1 (for example) does it disable 1 or 2 sata ports anyway

My idea was that using only 1 m.2 port (with pci-e nvme card) I would have available all 8 sata ports as it happens with other motherboards

Hi fvega70,

Thank you for your reply.

No matter the PCIe graphic card is installed or not, if M2_1 is in use, SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 will be disabled.

All the best,
ASRock TSD
