    Posted: 02 Jul 2023 at 4:37pm
To preface this, previously I was running a Ryzen 1700. I updated the BIOS via the appropriate path to 7.10 and now have a 5800X running without issue. With the newer CPU I was hopeful I wanted to get a larger amount of RAM and pulled the trigger prior to checking around. Naturally the QVL for the Taichi X370 is a bit out of date now.

Current:
G-Skill, 3200, CL14, 2x8GB

On-hand:
Mushkin Lumina, 3200, CL16, 2x32GB, 16-18-18-38

No overclocks in place aside from XMP for the G-Skill currently used.

Does this new memory have a snowball's chance in a hot place of working at normal speeds/timings? Any experience/suggestions would be appreciated.

Another possibility would be to grab a 2x16GB kit of the same G-skill memory I currently have. Not sure if it would pair well. I did once upon a time grab an extra 2x8GB kit (same memory, timings) to try and get 32GB but it refused to boot. Then again, I was on earlier BIOS and on the 1700.

I'd probably be ok with 32GB or 48GB anyways.

Thanks for your input. I don't have any issue getting my current 2x8 CL14 to run at the correct speed and timings. More specifically looking to see if anyone has tried 32GB DIMMs in the X370 Taichi. Everything I've found thus far seems to point to 16GB DIMMs at the most.

The thread provided does showcase a number of options, but no mention of 32GB DIMMs.

I'll post in there to see if I get someone that's tried it though...
