Just wanted to add an update.
With Newegg's help we finally figured out the processor was defective. This was after swapping motherboards and then ram. Since the system seemed fine while running Prime95 I decided to change the vcore voltage from automatic to fixed and set it to 1.04 volts. It finally installed windows and after a while crashed. So I increased it to 1.1 volts, after that the system ran perfectly fine, although warm. It wasn't stable at the lower voltages and speeds like it should be. The new processor is solid, no issues at all. Apparently, you can get a defective Intel processor. |

With node shrinking the occurrence of defective CPUs grows, as the manufacture process gets smaller the chances of defects gets higher. Intel has been seeing a lot more defective CPUs since Skylake. It used to be the last thing to suspect but times are changing. It's the price we pay for smaller dies, better efficiency and higher clocks ![]() I just wish it was easier to identify when it is the CPU causing issues without replacing everything one at a time ![]() Great to hear you have your system running
