m.2 slot question

   Hello. I'm new to m.2 SSDs and my mobo has a strip of paste on the back of the heat spreader, but the m.2 I bought came with its own and I already encased it in it. Is it ok for me to peel the solution off the mobos heat panel/spreader? Note: I'm sorry if I am getting a lot of this terminology wrong, as I am rather new to all of this. I think I got my question across though.

motherboard: Z390 Phantom Gaming X
m.2 SSD: Intel Optane 905p 380 GB M.2-22110 NVME Solid State Drive
