ASRock B450M PRO4-F (Bios v 1.40)
Ryzen 5 3600
GeIL EVO POTENZA 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000
MSI GeForce GTX 1660Ti
Corsair CX550

Hello all!!

I'm a first time builder and I'm running into an issue where after I get everything connected (double checked to make sure that all connections are secure and using the correct connectors, but upon powering on all the fans spin (case, power supply, GPU and CPU cooler for about 20-25 seconds and then everything powers down for a second or two and then everything spins up again - this repeats endlessly until I manually power down the rig. I don't get anything on my monitor (connected via HDMI - same result when connected to either Mobo HDMI out or the GPU HDMI out).

I have read that the CPU and Mobo are not compatible without a BIOS update. I have also read that in order to even get to the point where I can perform the BIOS update, I have to switch to a previous gen Ryzen CPU. Is that correct? Or is there something else going on here? I do have a Ryzen 2600 arriving today that I'll try unless I can get clarity on my issue here.

One other thing to note is that I'm on my 2nd Mobo (both are the same model) - I think I shorted the first one. Due to being a rookie builder I didn't realize you needed to use those special screws that help elevate the mobo from the deck. But I digress - I procured another of the same mobo and installed it the proper way this time (or so I think).

I just want to know if the issue i'm facing (boot loop, not able to even access the BIOS) is due to incompatibility between CPU and Mobo or if something else is at play.

TIA for any help.

Update 1 - I swapped out the Ryzen 3600 for a 2600 and now the boot loop has gone away (power remains on, all fans spinning, front power LED remains on), however I still cannot get anything on my monitor. I've tried just with HDMI (both from mobo and GPU). Will try the displayport connections.

Update 2 - swapping out the 3600 for the 2600 worked. Windows is currently installing.
