Hi everyone

Sorry if this is confusing, I?™m not very knowledgeable in this area. I built a comp back in 2010 and am looking to upgrade some bits and pieces. I?™ve got a Z77 extreme4 and I want to use an Intel 760p SSD. I understand the later needs an M2 port but the Z77 has none. I?™ve got an adapter (Lycom M.2 PCIe SSD to PCIe 3.0) to plug it in. What I?™m confused about is what I need to do firmware wise to make it work. Will it be recognised in the boot menu as usual or do I need a bios update? I?™m very hesitant to do the latter because last time I tried I was embroiled in difficulties for days while my work demands piled up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If this is my daily work box, I would have chosen a 2.5' SSD and not what you did. That's just me.

It looks like a BIOS update is in order. A BETA BIOS no less.

you could boot from a regular SATA drive be it SSD or HDD and use the M.2 Adapter card under windows as a DATA drive.
