Hi folks,
I am planing on upgrading my nephews CPU from A8 to R5 55000 on AB350M Pro4 board, CPU support list here

I asume there is still an old bios from back in the time. I just want to make sure I understand the process correctly. Judjing by latest bios notes, first I will have to update to 7.0 bios, using A8 CPU, then update to 7.2 bios using the same CPU. Doing that tho, after the restart A8 should no longer work, as 7.2 does not support Bristol Ridge CPUs. So I guess I will have to turn system off, install R5 5500 and reboot again to be able to post on the 7.2, is that right?

I just want to doublechceck that I can use A8 for bios update, would not want to end up with a bricked board for whatever reason.

Thanks.

Dear Mino_bg

if the current BIOS is below, you first have to flash to 3.40, which is also a bridge BIOS
Next step would be to upgrade to 5.50, after that is finished you can update to BIOS 7.0, which is also a bridge BIOS, and when that is finshed, to 7.20
Best to use only 1 memory module, and reset the BIOS to default settings with f9, and save with f10, before updating.
You can unpack multiple BIOS on a FAT formatted USB stick, but please use the correct sequence.
If a BIOS uopdate fails, you can always fill in the support form

ASRock, or maybe a shop near you, can use a special BIOS programemr to reflash the board
Kind Regards
