    Posted: 01 Jul 2022 at 1:01pm
About a week ago I booted up my B550 Phantom Gaming ITX/ax and found that the 4 stacked USB-A ports on the back stopped working. The other two USB ports on the back (type C and type A) still work as well as the cabled USB ports (1 type C and 2 type A) on the front of the enclosure also work.

I've removed the devices that were attached to those ports. If I go into Device Manager I see two entries under USB controllers which have problems. One says Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) and the other says Unknown USB Device (Set Address Failed).

I've already tried the tricks where you disable and then enable those devices and also looked for updated drivers. Those didn't work.

I put in a request for tech support with ASRock a week ago, but so far haven't heard back from them. I fear part of my motherboard has failed.

Any suggestions of other things to try?

I don't know if you are using a gmail acount, but for some reason replies can end up in Spam.
Are you using a wireless keyboard and mouse, because this is a known issue, on all moherboards, from all manufacturers.
The USB dongle uses the same frequency, that USB3 is using to communicate, and can render them useless.
Try a Clr CMOS
Try creating a bootabke USB stick with Ubuntu on it and boot from that, yoiu can run Ubuntu without installing, check if you have thge same issue, if yes, contact the seller, and return board and CPU
Kind Regards
