Hi,

I have a problem with downclocking/undervolting my Threadripper 1950x. If I set the core clock in BIOS manually to 3.40 Ghz or below, once I boot into Window the CPU behaves as if everything is on Auto - the CPU boosts up to 4.10 Ghz. The core voltage is also anywhere between 1.10V and 1.50V so it looks like it's on Auto too even though I've set a Manual value of 1.00 in BIOS. After rebooting back into BIOS, the values are still set to Manual 3400 and Manual 1.00V core voltage. Really strange.

Any ideas why does this happen and how to avoid it? I want to be able to fix my CPU to 3.40 Ghz at all times and also set manual CPU core voltage at this clock speed of 1.0-1.05V.

My motherboard is X399 Taichi with the latest BIOS as of now. OS is Windows 10 x64 Pro version 1903.

Thanks in advance!

You probably have also to disable dynamic clocking features like Core Performance Boost, PState handling etc.

Thanks for the tip. I tried disabling Core Performance Boost, but it did nothing. I couldn't find the option Pstate handling though. Do you know where it's located in the BIOS?

Under the Bios of my X370 it's there where you can configure Core Performance Boost.
Advanced\AMD CBS\Zen Common Options

If not known, maybe for further infos:

Thanks, but as I already mentioned, I tried disabling Core Performance Boost, but it did nothing. You said something about the option Pstate handling, but I don't see this in the BIOS. Do you know where it's located and if this will help me fix the clocks speed at 3400 mhz as well as the core voltage?

In my bios it is under Advanced\AMD CBS\Zen Common Options like i already posted, the same path where i can find Core Performance Boost.
-> Custom Pstates / Throttling
That can be different in your bios.
However, i haven't used a threadripper yet.
I would use the already posted overclock.net link, there should be some users using allcore frequency settings with the same mainboard at least for testing the max, frequency they can get out from their TR. And if not, start a thread there.
Just a suggestion.
