won't accept Nvme Raid card

   I have a total of 6 Sata Drives for storage internal to my PC. 4 are connected to the Taichi Z370 board and two are connected to a PCIE card. I also have my boot drive which is an Nvme connected to the motherboard. I also have a scratch disk nvme 1TB which is installed on a PCIE x1 card. 

I need to expand that scratch disk; so I purchased two separate 4 port nvme raid card. In both occasions, the mother board won't see the new nvme raid card. I have a nvidia 1080ti video card, a pcie x4 pcie card and a sata pcie x1 card. During my testing, I remvoed all of the cards and only added the Nvme x16 card and the board won't recognize neither card.

What do I have to do to install the Nvme card?
