Hi,
I'm reviewing possible motherboards for a build and have a few questions regarding the EP2C621D12 WSEP2C621D12 WS and its use with 4 and possibly (in the future) 5 GPUs. Q1) I've read somewhere that a firmware update of the board is necessary when adding more than 4 or up to 7 GPUs to this system. Is this true? Q2) Does this board realistically support 4 GPUs in the first place? The manual shows 2x 8-pin ATX12V connectors for the CPU sockets. However there's no additional PCIe x6 or x8 receptacles on the board. The 12V lines for a single PCIe x16 slot can draw up to 5.5A (66W), meaning 4 cards could in theory draw up to 22A (realistically less but may spike close to this at times). The 24 pin ATX connector has 2x 12V lines each of which I think are safely rated up to 6A or a total of 12A which is well under the possible max draw of 4 cards. I'm not using the GPUs for mining (otherwise I could use separately powered risers from a 2nd PSU and avoid the possible issue in Q2) Thanks for any help |
