I want to wire my case's power_on LED so I can find it in the dark to turn on my PC. The mother board is a Z270 Taichi.
Has anyone done something like this? |

Guess I'll be answering my own question.
The motherboard has a USB 3 A-Type female connector. The USB is powered prior to turning on the computer. Parts List Old USB 2 printer cable 560 ohm resistor 3-pin fan power cable extension. The 3-pin fan power cable extension was used to connect the PC case's Power LED + and - connection. The old USB 2 printer cable connected to the motherboard USB. The 560 ohm resistor was used to limit current to the case's power switch LED. Works just the way I need. |
