System is:
Z370 Extreme4 Intel Core i7-8700 2 x G.Skill F4-3000C15D-16GVRB Memory Samsung SSD 850 EVO 50 Corsair RM650i power supply Was running fine for several months with older BIOS version. Then a windows 10 update last week caused a blue screen and crash. If I reinstall the 1803 version of windows 10 then it will run fine again until Microsoft windows update KB4100347 occurs at which time it will crash again during the reboot of that update. This appears to happen for BIOS versions less than 1.60. Microsoft support indicated that the BIOS should be updated to a newer version to work with newer windows 10 updates. For any BIOS version 1.60 through 3.30 though I can't even install windows 10 anymore from a USB install stick. As soon as the initial windows logo appears when booting from the install stick then it freezes or crashes. This happens with both windows 10 version 1803 and 1809 USB install sticks. Interestingly if I restrict the number of CPU cores in the BIOS to 1 or 2 then it can boot off of the USB install stick. But, I want a solution with all 6 cores. Any ideas or suggestions of what to try to get this working? |
