I had a B250 with an Adata XPG M.2 set to Ultrafast and it worked perfectly until the SSD totally failed (even stopped POST activity). I replaced the Adata SSD with a Samsung 970 EVO M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4 just like the Adata). It only goes to the BIOS on startup with the board set to Ultrafast. I tried a SATA SSD and Ultrafast works. I then put the Samsung into a Z370M board and Ultrafast boot again causes it to just go to the BIOS screen. Any guesses why the Samsung won't work where the Adata did? Is it a setting? Is it a bad drive?
Other than not working with ultrafast boot, the Samsung drive appears to work perfectly. I miss the ultrafast boot, but at least my apps load really quickly and even big documents save quickly. Adata has mailed the replacement XPG so I will soon try that in place of the Samsung. |
