Hello there,

My system:

CPU: Intel i5-3570k
GPU: HIS 7770 iCooler 1GB GDDR5
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO
Memory: DDR3 1600 G-Skill 2x8GB

Can't use anymore my GPU. I tried to clear CMOS (using jumper or button), reset/up-downgrade the BIOS, restarting the system removing one by one components, but still my monitor remains black. At the end I tested with another graphic card, an Nvidia Quadro. Nothing happened! So I guess 2xPCI-E 16x ports are gone!

Now I'm using the computer with iGPU, HD 4000 (OC). Is working fine for daily routine, but when it comes on gaming it sucks!

So I need to ask you guys is there any way to test the remaining 2xPCI-E 1x slots to make sure that I did not lose them? Since it is difficult to find a new motherboard like this model, think to use one of these converters:

Haven't used one of this things before, so I'm not sure if it can put my 7770HD in full operation?

Any help will be of value to me.

Thanks.

Can you get a PCIE 1x USB, sound or Network card from a friend ? That would be an easy way to test the 1x ports.
Those riser adapters are for mining (number crunching) with the GPU and only run at 1x which would cripple your video card for gaming purposes. You need at least 4x or better for it to perform better than the HD-4000 video.

If your PCIe x1 slots still work the adapter should be fine with your GPU. That Radeon HD 7770 won't be bottlenecked by an x1 slot. If you were using a newer, faster GPU you would lose some performance but that is an older, mid/low end GPU so you should be fine.

badbri's suggestion of a cheap/borrowed PCIe x1 device is your best bet for testing.

For your x16 slots, have you tried removing your CPU and checking that corrosion has not built up on the contact pads/pins? The x16 slots on your board are fed by PCIe lanes from the CPU so if they are not working then there is either an issue with the CPU or the circuitry between the CPU and the slots. The most likely break point is where the pins on the socket meet the contact pads on the CPU. Over time the pads can corrode or loose contact. Sometimes simply taking the CPU out, cleaning it's contact pads with some isopropyl alcohol and a cloth then putting it back together will sort out the problem.

Even if the x16 slots are completely dead, at least one of your PCIe x1 slots should be provided by the chipset so there is a good chance one of them will work.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Thank you for your support.

Based on your suggestions, I took some actions. First, pulled out the motherboard to avoid any contact with PC case. Then I plugged one by one all parts, after I did another BIOS reset. Suddenly PCIE3 slot reacted! Weird! To be more specific, did these tests:

TEST 1 - Using Radeon 7770 HD card.
1. On slot PCIE3, computer normally turned ON, GPU card ON, in the screen appeared Windows 10 logo, after while the screen turned black(monitor still ON)!
2. On slot PCIE2, computer turned ON, GPU card ON, monitor did not reacted (standby)! Device not recognized, more likely!

TEST 2 - Using Nvidia QuadroTX 3700 card.
1. On slot PCIE3, computer normally turned ON, GPU card ON, in the screen appeared Windows 10 logo, than Windows Desktop icons.
2. On slot PCIE2, same result without any issue. Cool!

Seems the problem is on HD7770 card, at least. I'll find a way to check it on another computer.

Just forgot to tell you guys, have another issue with this motherboard. This time with memory slots. B1,B2 are not working at all. Dr.Debug display ERROR 55 code with all combinations, except A1,A2! Searching in many other forums, found this issue very widespread on these series Z77 Asrock! Based on your experience, is something related with so called bent-pin on LGA socket?

thanks

That is good news that you got the PCIe slots working, I would check the back of board to see if something from the case was shorting. As far as bent socket pins: they do not just show up or happen as long as a cpu or a cover is in the socket. Bent pins are usually caused by carelessness when installing or removing a cpu (or dropping something as simple as a case screw when no cpu is installed).
The cpu controls the ram so you might want to take Xaltars advice and carefully remove the cpu and clean the back of it.
DO NOT try and clean the socket pins ! You can inspect them to see if one or more looks darker than the rest, which may indicate being bent.

Hi guys,

Tried to make some shoots (newbie images). The socket's matrix doesn't look so clean!Cry

It looks like there may be 2 pins out of alignment, you can see them in the second and third images you posted, right along the separation line.

If you are only using 2 RAM modules I wouldn't worry about it. Straightening pins on a motherboard is tricky at the best of times. It can be done but there is always the risk of bending more pins in the process. If you decide to try, be slow, patient and cautious. There is a high chance the bent pins are responsible for your dead RAM slots.

Hi,

Just for update, I installed a new Gigabyte GTX 1050 on my system.

Everything runs fine, except  the dual-channel memory known issue. But I don't intend to interfere in CPU socket, don't want to create any new problem.

Thanks again for your help guys
