Hi guys,

My taichi x370 bios can't retain time/date and settings after power off wall socket since October 2019. I upgrade bios from 5.67 to 5.8 via instant flash not solve. So I took it to felton.com.hk the authorized dealer in HK for warranty.

The FELTON.com.hk Service Centre senior warranty officer suggest to let them erase clean the bios, void all the old traces and try clean flash bios 5.8 before sending to factory in China for repairs and it worked !!! HOORAY !!! no need to wait 45 days.

Felton tested it 3 days then felt confident to let me take home..... good lads.

Side-story-1 = year end plus Christmas so they had calendars and nice beautiful big huge mouse pad for takeaway FoC !!! :) :) :) so recommend everyone to a service centre for yearly check up, hahhaaha. Thank you ASRock!!!

Side-story-2 = the clean uefi 5.8 can run original XMP of CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 tCL automatically +1 from 15 to 16. Everything else AUTO.

and
2933mhz 1.35v soc 1.025v a-tuning read out, stable gaming.
3000mhz 1.36v soc 1.05v
3133mhz 1.41v soc 1.125v procODT 68.6ohms was all it needed.

3200mhz 1.54v soc 1.2v procODT 68 was all it needed. Stable, aida64 latency 74ns

3266mhz 1.58v soc 1.2v procODT 68 and cad bus fiddling needed. Stable for 6 hours game non stop.

3333mhz 1.61v soc 1.2v procODT 68/80 and cad bus 30/40 fiddling needed. POST OK windows OK, youtube web browse OK, light workload OK, but games crash, which I'm not complaining as not yet found matching settings.

Well, better than uefi 4.x and older 3.x can't OC beyond 3200, but only OK at POST and windows but game crash.

They probably used an external flasher to first blank then reprogram the BIOS ROM.
I have done this myself in the past and it can really help clean out gremlins.
Awesome news cx5, so glad to hear your issues are sorted. Enjoy the system

Hi gizmiz, thank you.

The process is without CPU and RAM. No need these item plug into motherboard. May be no need PSU also, not sure anymore, happen very fast.

They have a palm size exposed DIY circuit board/communicator thing plug into the motherboard, may be to USB port or something.

It erases and also flash in new bios.

I suspect it can revive partial flash problem, i.e. we flash halfway but then house power lost and PC cannot boot anymore.

Next time I might use @TheStilt recommended flashrom 1.1 for ryzen, says nearly as good as hardware clean erase bios then flash in new bios. https://www.overclock.net/forum/11-amd-motherboards/1733304-agesa-fw-stack-patched-bioses-3rd-gen.html

thank you Xaltar,

haha took me more than 19 mins to look for the link @thestilt flashrom.

If I knew this was enough, would have saved myself a lot of work dismantling water pump, etc .....

I thought there was physical problem needed to go China factory....

Well lesson learnt for me, next time try flashrom also.

This is exactly how you recover a bad flash yes. Using an external ROM flasher.
