Been having problems installing Thunderbolt 3 AIC on my Taichi XE X299. I'm not using the card for additional monitors, but only for an Universal Audio audio interface.

My setup:

I9 7980XE
64MB Gskill
Samsung 970 Pro M2 (boot)
2x EVGA GTX 1080 TI 11GB

I'm inserting the Thunderbolt card at PCI5. Header connected. I plugged in the DP/miniDP cables. But at boot up, I couldn't get anything to my display. After unplugging the DP/mini DP cables, I was able to boot. I don't actually need to connect to GPU as I'm not using the TB ports to monitors. So, I was able to boot, enabled Thunderbolt in the BIOS, installed drivers.

First, I noticed the boot time was probably 45 seconds, normally less than 10. Good news was, I was able to get the Audio Interface working through the TB.

HOWEVER.. the MB debug code said 81. When I tried to restart, I could no longer get anything onto my monitor. Debug said A6. Tried several restarts, same issue. Nothing on my screen.

Unplugged the card and my computer runs fine again.

Very frustrating.. Any way to resolve this?

Thank you. I'm not an expert on this but I can give it a try. Any risks to my system trying this instant flash?

Guys, thank you very much. I ran the BIOS upgrade and it fixed it! Now my Thunderbolt works perfectly and my GPUs are all detected.

Super! Thanks a lot!!
