    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 at 2:54am
Hello there

I am considering X570 Steel Legend for the 3900x system I am trying to build and I've got a few questions.

1. Is there any X570 Steel Legend owner who can recommend stable/trustworthy ram modules?
I want a 2x16 GB RAM set, ideally at 3600 MHz and having the ability to add another 32 GB at some point in the future, if necessary.
I thought it was a given that pretty much any ram would be compatible, but I am reading people having lots of problems with ram with this board such BSODs and not being able to get the advertised frequency + that Asrock QVL shouldn't be trusted. Looking that up it seems nearly impossible to find a 2x16 GB 3600 set from a popular brand (Corsair,G.Skill,Crucial), especially one marked as "2/4" (I gather when it comes to those with "2" only, adding an additional 32 GB set later is impossible?). The fact it's so complicated to find a decent 2x16GB/3600 MHz has almost made me to quit on this board and looking up Aorus Elite instead, so I am really interested if anyone has a compatible set to report.

Anyway, these are the ram modules sets available in a sensible price (under 180 euros) where I live, if anyone else has success with something else (2x16 GB - 3600 MHz) please let me know anyway though:

G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB DDR4-3600MHz (F4-3600C19D-32GVRB)
Someone on Reddit says he uses them with the X570 Extreme4 (which he thinks it's pretty much the same board), overclocked at cl17 even.

G.Skill TridentZ 32GB DDR4-3600MHz (F4-3600C17D-32GTZSW)
The fact I've seen more than one cases saying they use G.Skill Trident Z Neo Series 2 x 16GB @ 3600MHz makes me think these should be ok too, as it looks like the same ram module minus the RGB (I don't care about RBG at all btw, I've got a non-TG case). Since these are CL17-19-19-39 and the Neo ones CL16-19-19-39 though, I'm not so sure.

G.Skill TridentZ 32GB DDR4-3600MHz (F4-3600C17D-32GTZSWG.Skill TridentZ 32GB DDR4-3600MHz (F4-3600C17D-32GTZSW

G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB DDR4-3600MHz (F4-3600C16D-32GVKC)

I guess purchasing these 3200MHz sets is also an option, provided they can be overclocked to 3600MHz or that having a lower cas would mean they'll have the same or better performance than a 3600MHz set with higher cas.

G.Skill Flare X 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (F4-3200C16D-32GFX)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16)
Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (CMK32GX4M2B3200C16)
G.Skill RipjawsV 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (F4-3200C16D-32GVK)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (CMK32GX4M2B3200C16W)
G.Skill TridentZ 32GB DDR4-3200MHz (F4-3200C16D-32GTZ)

2. Anyone with the bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 or the Noctua NH-D15S cpu cooler with this board? Noctua NH-D15S should ok and bequiet says the Dark Rock Pro 4 is compatible, but since it's almost as big as the Noctua NH-D15 (NOT 100% compatible) makes me wonder whether there will be problems with the cooler touching the ram modules or covering a pci slot.

3. Is there really a problem with the airflow to the chipset fan being blocked? By the video card I guess? I see some people complaining about high temperatures and noise.
My video card is: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1660-SUPER-GAMING-X/Specification
MSI says the dimensions are: 247 x 127 x 46 mm and it comes with 2 fans.
Do you think it will block the airflow to the chipset fan?

Thanks a lot!

I run the non wifi x570 Steel Legend and have been very happy with it.

I run 2 Hyperx 16GB 3200mhz (HX432C16PB3/16) modules at 3600 CAS 18.

I also run the Noctua NH-D15 in dual fan configuration. This would be my only gripe with this mobo. The top PCIe x16 slot is the top slot so my D15 sit's right on top of my 5700xt. If your video card doesn't have a back plate on it, then these bigger heatsinks could potentially short our your vid card. There is no real weight from the heatsink resting on the back of your video card, but it touches it.

I don't notice the chipset fan .. but I game with a headset on. I do hear my blower style 5700xt ramping up a bit ..but that's it as far as noise.

I run a wider type Rosewill NIGHTHAWK Z-RGB windowed/RGB case with 7 120mm fans and have pretty good air flow throw my case.

Make sure your case is wide enough to hold these bigger heatsinks. My other DEEPCOOL DUKASE WH V2-ATX case wasn't.
