Asrock B550m Type 2230 Wifi M2

   Hello everyone, I just got my B550M not too long ago. I plan to upgrade my GPU with the new 30 series coming out and it looks like the GPU might take up more space than my 1070 so I won't be able to use my Pcie wifi adapter, so I am interested in taking advantage of the m2 wifi slot. According to the manual it says "1 x M.2 Socket (Key E), supports type 2230 WiFi/BT module". I'm pretty new to this kind of tech so is there any that would be best for my motherboard? I see on the back there are two holes for the wifi antennas however the big metal heatsink that has RGB and says "B550M Steel Legend" is covering the i/o ports so I am curious as to how I would get the antennas in there and out the i/o shield. Sorry if this was a bit of a ramble! Any help is appreciated! Thanks

	You have to plug Wi Fi module to M.2 socket which is designated for it right next to the battery. That slot once populated by the module, will send and receive the signal to the antenna connectors at the back IO panel. I can see that antenna outlets are not installed on the IO panel, which is weird. Does the box include the antennas itself? If not, then this is major BS by Asrock... In order to remove the IO shield cover, at the back of the motherboard there is a metal V or U shaped plate with couple of screws at the end of it. I am not sure, but I hope that holds the "heatsink" cover in place

	You will need your own 2230 WiFi M.2 module. These usually are used in Laptops, but there are kits out there that include the antennas such as Intel AX210 as an example. As mentioned, there are two screws behind the mobo that hold the I/O shield that need to be unscrewed and then two clips you need to wiggle up ward to detach the I/O shield. You will have to route the antenna wires under the I/O shield beneath the VRM heatsinks before replacing the I/O shield. It's a hassle, but just take your time. You'll have a lot of extra slack from the antenna wires. If your case has small holes from a PSU basement I recommend tucking them into those holes from the back before installing your GPU.
