Its time for an upgrade and im going to be going 3rd gen ryzen this time around, Now I have a 2600x and a b450m pro 4f at the moment and my girlfriend is looking at getting a gaming PC so obviously using these components would cut down the cost significantly. There is but one catch, either my CPU or the b450m is dodgy and I cant tell which as I have no parts to diagnose at the minute but I will when I get my 3rd gen ryzen, however in order to test this I would have to update the BIOS on the B450m pro at some point so it could run with the new CPU and test which component is damaged, I know from trying before though that there is a block on reverting the B450s bios to allow you to revert back to the old bios (as its not reccomended to use newer BIOS unless on 3000 series my b550 im getting doesnt support 2nd gen so im screwed that route I've suspected the BIOS of maybe being the issue as to why the computer keeps messing up this is why I know you cannot revert the BIOS although I cant be sure.
Does anyone know if there is reliable ways, im sure through something similar to the graphics card flashing tools to get around this BIOS reverting block? Or maybe an official way of doing it and whats the chances itl all explode, should I use the newer CPU to downgrade the bios or the older 2nd gen (probably the latter), any help well appreciated |

notice under the CPU Support list ..in the "Since BIOS" column .. 2600x says "all" ..
If your system isn't stable, a BIOS update may help with memory compatibility or just overall system stability. You might have to simply dial back your memory settings with or without a BIOS update with your particular memory paired with that particular 2600x. Either way, update the BIOS without worry. I ran a 2700x on my daughters ASRock B350 Fatal1ty Gaming ITX/ac with some non-QVL 3000 rated RAM (2 x 16GB sticks). I could only run them at 2866 stably. It was the same with a 2200g I had installed prior. Fast forward to upgrading her to a 3600x .. same BIOS.. Same memory now runs at 3200 stably... just because of the more robust onboard memory controller inside the 3600x. |

..and for what it's worth, my wife's 2200g on her ASUS B350 Prime motherboard .. could not run 4 sticks of RAM at any speed stably .. upgraded her to a 3400g and the same 4 sticks where now stable at their 3200 XMP profile.

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M%20Pro4-F/#BIOS
Im not sure if the 350s say the same thing but if you look there it does say not recommended, im om 1.50 which is the newest recommended for my chip but its still crusty old bios. This would say to me that it would work with the 2600x (as in should post) but the chances of me running into more issues are high and i cant revert back. Already tried ram speed changes brought parts spacifically on the pinnicle ridge qvl |

Just took a look at that page. CPU since bios means the cpu has been supported since the first released bios of the motherboard not that if i update to the newest bios it will work
