I am upgrading my 1700 CPU to the new 5600x CPU but I can't get my PC to post. I have upgraded my BIOS P4.60 prior to installation. I tried reseating my GPU, clearing CMOS, reapplied thermal paste, reseated my RAM, and nothing would work. Every time I booted I got 5 short beeps followed by one long beep, but the only thing I could find related to that was reseating the RAM which I ruled out. After trying all of this I re-installed my 1700 chip and my PC booted just fine which tells me it's something with the 5600x chip. Only other thing I can think of is that my RAM might not be compatible with the 5600x but I can't find a compatible list that would tell me otherwise. Anyone know of anything I may be missing?
PC Build but replace 1700 with 5600x of course: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fT4jw6 |

RAM installed in slots A2/B2?
Have you clearing CMOS by unplugging power, holding down power button and the pulling the battery out for several minutes as well as shorting the CMOS jumper pins? Have you tried booting with just 1 stick of RAM in slot A2? Have you tried reseating the CPU, looking for bent pins in the process? ..unless 5000 series is a regression .. every Ryzen iteration has gotten better and better memory compatability .. so if RAM works with your 1700 .. then it should work just fine, if not better, with Ryzen 5000 series. |
