Hello, i just want to start off by saying im new to pc gaming and i bought from a friend a bunch of pieces and everything was going horrible from the get go. It started with the black screen on boot up and now im getting 3 long beeps and it wont boot.
Ive tried cleaning the ram stick and the ram slots and still nothing. Ive made sure the ram is well sitted on its slot to the point where im pretty sure if i apply anymore preasure i might damage the mobo.i also bought a new ram a really cheap one be ause at this point im not sure its even worth the hassle but still got the same proble the mobo wont detect/read the memory sticks. I also removed the cmos for about 30mins or more as well as changing the sticks from slots, tried the one at a time, removed the graphics card.
Last but not least (and this is my biggest fear) when i lean in on the pc to take a closer look it ....smells funny like...burnt cords.. =(
It was working fine for about 2 weeks then it gave me the 3 beeps and i havent been able to use it for about 2 weeks now. Also i think i should point out i only have 1 fan aside from the graphics card and the one the processor has so i was using the pc in short periods 4 hours at the most cause the fans would start to sound a lot.
Here are my specs and i hope i didnt forget anything

1 ram xpg ddr3 1600mhz pc3 12800 8 gb
1 ram scr ddr3 1600mhz

Three beeps that repeat after a pause and occur when you power on your computer indicate a problem with the system memory.

With one stick you might need to use a specific slot.
