Hello everyone, after upgrading the BIOS I still have a dead system. What else can I do? Or is one of the parts broken?
The system: ASRock DeskMini X600 AMD Ryzen 7 9700X Noctua NH-L9a-AM5 Kingston Technology KVR56S46BD8-48 SODIMM DDR5-5600 (2x) WD Black SN850X 4TB NVMe M.2 80mm PCIe G4 (1x) for OS's The procedure followed: See https://vanderworp.org/amd-9700x-and-deskmini-x600/ I've repeated it 4 times, at some point writing the BIOS image is finished when the blue power LED stops blinking and remains on. Rebooting: nothing, no screen, no keyboard, ventilator running and the power LED continuously on. Suggestions more than welcome! |

What exactly went wrong, I don't know but I had to flash the BIOS eight times, with four different USB flash drives, clearing the BIOS again and again, switching USB ports. Different power supplies and even taking everything apart again, checking the pins of the CPU, the contacts of the DDR5 modules, switching NVME. I had almost given up and then, suddenly, I saw a hard disk LED flickering. The BIOS update had succeeded after all. Why was it so difficult? I have no idea.
Really frustrating but a happy end! |

Hey there! I have the exact same behavior on my deskmini x600. Did you find a solution?

Apparently, many people are experiencing problems with the BIOS update. Old USB sticks can fail. If you don't synchronise after creating the stick, you will end up with an unusable image. So make sure you eject it properly in Windows or use the sync or eject command in Linux. Be sure to read the comments on this link: https://vanderworp.org/amd-9700x-and-deskmini-x600/ . Apart from the problematic BIOS update, I have to admit that I have never had such an unstable system. Green screens from time to time, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 2 weeks. Not happy.
