Hey!
I have a fairly new build (only my cpu/mobo/rams are new): 7800x3d ASRock b650m-hdv/m.2 Kingston FURY 32GB KIT DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 Beast Black EXPO 850w seasonic gold rtx 4070 From the very first boot up the red lights for CPU and DRAM were lit up while booting. I experienced no issues or problems but the lights did bother me. Now I have been using the PC for more than a month with no problems, and suddenly today when I pressed power button to turn PC on; the CPU and DRAM red lights lit up just like usual, fans spin full speed for some reason, my gpu rgb didnt turn on, black screen, and wouldnt POST.. Tried to power off and power on, did not work, same issue. I ended up fixing it by removing the CMOS battery, and putting it back on. Now I'm asking for any suggestions or advice or insight to prevent it from potentially happening again. Is it normal for this board to have the 2 red lights on every boot? |

Hey!
No, those red lights staying on every boot is NOT normal - they should only flash briefly during POST then turn off. Your issue is likely RAM instability. Your DDR5-6000 EXPO profile may be too aggressive for your motherboard/CPU combo. Here's what to do: Update BIOS immediately - crucial for Ryzen 7000 + DDR5 stability Check RAM is in slots A2 and B2 (2nd and 4th from CPU) Try lowering RAM speed to DDR5-5600 or 5200 if problems continue Ensure all power cables are fully seated The CMOS reset worked because it reverted to safe default settings. If it happens again, your RAM speed/timings are likely the culprit - run at lower speeds for stability. |
