   Hello,

I am going to buy the cable to connect my device and is confused by the types. I?™m not familiar with this, consider choosing CAT5e or CAT6. I searched on google and saw the blog, is this blog true or not? Can someone kindly advise me and also tell me the reason? Thanks in advance. |

The difference between Cat5 and Cat6, is the transfer rate the cable can handle, Cat6, is better shielded.

But when using a Gigabit LAN, Cat5 is more than enough, Cat6 is not perse necessary |

it also depends on which speeds your network router supports. if your router supports 2.5 gigabit LAN or 10 gigabit LAN speeds, go with CAT6 cables. but if your router supports only up to 1Gb / 1 gigabit LAN and not higher, then CAT5e is good enough |

   Hi Noelman8.

Correct. 2.5 or 10G, in my opinion, only makes sense in an internal network environment, where Servers and switches/routers work with the same speed. For internet, the speed is limited to the bandwith of the server you download from, with NAS, it is determinded by the overall speed of your Array/ drives |
