Hey there, I'm wanting to buy this motherboard:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970A-G3.1/ It has a M.2 slot, but it says the it's only Gen 2, now I've read a couple of things online about M.2, some people have said that they're backwards compatible if you use like a gen 4, but you won't get the best speed out of them, and other people have said that you cant use newer Gen M.2's in older M.2 Gen slots. Anybody know who is right? Please let me know, I need to get my machine up and running soon, living on a dual core laptop is no way to live!! Thanks in advance, Keegan |

yes it works it will just run at gen 2 speeds you'd be wasting alot of money for getting a gen 4 m.2 plus the fact that there arent Gen4X4 m.2 in max speed (8000MB/s)
if its Gen2 cant go wrong with samsung 970 evo's |
