Sorry for all the silly questions.

I was reading up on the yellow USB or lightning gaming ports. It says that these ports are for charging and gaming mice and keyboards. I have two questions.

(1) since there always on for charging does this mean the RGB keyboard/mouse are always lit/on?
(2) I was always in the understanding that mice and keyboards didn't need high speed data paths that USB 2.0 was plenty. Then read my superlight 2 might use a red USB port.

Needless to say, I'm a bit confused?

Thank you for your time.

For clarity.

I'm just wondering if anybody has used the yellow USB lightning ports for their mouse and keyboard and if they were always on even after the computer was off.

Thank you.

I am not familiar with gaming peripherals. While I have owned quite a few "gaming"
branded products, in every case it was simply marketing and there was no difference
between the "gaming" version and the standard one.

If a mouse or keyboard were to have specialized controllers that require high bandwidth
data transfer to the PC then the faster ports may indeed be useful. Input latency
has long been lamented with USB peripherals. This is why many pro gamers use PS2
peripherals, often spending a fortune on vintage keyboards with mechanical switches.
I can't say if it's legitimate or not, much in the same way guitar players obsess
over valve amps or music lovers obsess over vinyl.

I don't have lightning ports on any of my current setups so I can't check if peripherals
remain on. If they are advertized as "fast charging" etc then the likelihood is
high that they will remain on.
