X870 Steel Legend WiFi -
I have tested all of the following BIOS: 3.16, 3.26, 3.40 & 3.50. These all boot to Windows 10 but sometimes seem to get lost the first time doing so. I have tested BIOS: 4.03 and 4.10 and NEITHER of these will boot to Windows no matter what settings that I use. I am using the Ryzen 5 9600X, Samsung SSD, M.2, G.Skill approved 2x 16 GB DRAM F5-6000J3238F16GX2-FX5, Sapphire RX 480. All of the 3-series BIOS run fine at the default 4800 or Expo 6000 frequences. Neither 4.03 nor 4.10 BIOS will boot to Windows at either default or Expo settings, though they will boot to the BIOS set-up screen. I have submitted 2x Tech Support Tickets over the past 3 weeks with confirmation that they have been received by Asrock Tech Support yet no response what so ever on the 4-series BIOS refusing to boot to Windows at least with my mobo serial # H9M0XB1098xx. My past Asrock support has always been good so it's unclear where the issue is. |

So when you power on the system it goes directly to the BIOS screen (UEFI)?
Is your boot drive formatted to mbr or gpt? By what you describe it sounds like your OS is installed on an mbr formatted drive which would require CSM to be enabled in order for your system to boot. Windows 11 requires this setting to be disabled so recent BIOS versions have likely changed the default setting from enabled to disabled. The setting should be under your boot settings in your UEFI (BIOS). As for your support tickets, I suspect you may have submitted them during the Lunar New Year holiday period in Taiwan, this was a period from Feb 15 - Feb 23. During that time no one was working as it is a public holiday period in Taiwan and China. Once they come back from the holiday there is inevitably a backlog of support requests to go to. If I can't help you resolve the issue here I will contact someone from ASRock and let them know you have not gotten a reply yet. |

Xaltar -
Thanks for creating a thread for this issue. With either BIOS 4.03 or 4.10 - yes the system boots only to the BIOS screen - no matter what boot settings that I use - including the boot settings that work fine for all of the 3-series BIOS. I tried every combination of boot settings and neither 4-series BIOS will boot to Windows. |

Typically booting directly into the UEFI happens when no bootable devices are found
on the system, which is why I suggested flipping CSM from whatever it's default is to the opposite. Another thing to try is using a bootable USB drive, a live linux distro is usually what I use for this. See if the system will allow you to boot from that. Also, if you have not already tried, see if you can pull up the boot menu during POST by repeatedly hitting F12, if you can, check to see if your boot drive is displayed. Please PM me the email address you used to open your support tickets so I can follow up with my contacts at ASRock for you. |

I finally managed to get BIOS V 4.03 and 4.10 to boot to Windows. What I discovered - with YOUR help - is that with the 4-series BIOS it is MANDATORY that you select the boot drive via F11 on the first boot after changing the BIOS. This is NOT the case with any of the 3-series BIOS versions I have tested / been using. I also noted that CSM in my case MUST be "Enabled" same as in the 3-series BIOS. I am on Windows 10. In addition I do not see in the boot tab: "Launch Video" nor "Launch Storage" It appears that Asrock has changed the names or options to something else. It appears they have changed the actual video choices as I do not need to select the "Legacy" option as in the 3-series BIOS. I just used the default settings for the second and third boot tab choices. You'd think if Asrock was changing these settings they'd at least make people aware as it's a nightmare trying to figure out what has changed or what needs to be changed. There is no reference to bottom two BOOT tab settings in the 63 page User's Manual that I printed out - because a UM is no longer included with the mobo purchase. |

Awesome, glad to hear it
![]() I have reached out to my contacts anyway, you can just let them know your issue is resolved and how you did it when they reply your ticket/s. I suspect it's some kind of quirk with your particular system configuration as I haven't seen similar issues reported here or on redit. It would be all over the place if it was a more generic issue. Regardless, even a 1 in 1000 instance rate of an issue can cause headaches with millions of AM5 boards out there. Happy to hear you are able to use your system with 4.10. Let me know if you have any other issues with the BIOS version
