Shared SATA ports are free. asrock website says this SSD is not compatible. www.asrock.com/support/qa/Technical%20NNotes%20-%20Storage%20Device%20Compatibility.pdf I WANT TO KNOW IF ASROCK HAS ADDED SUPPORT FOR THIS SSD IN THE BETA BIOS AVAILABLE FOR THIS MOTHERBOARD. I have not updated BIOS after ver5 as it is working fine. can i update to L8.02 (the stable / final one) without any issue? thanks. |

You can updated to L8.02 yes, it should work just fine though I would update to
10.44 beta so you get the benefit of the updated secure boot certificates. Your 850x will need to go in the top (ultra M.2) slot. Your operating system must be installed in GPT mode (UEFI mode) or the drive will not be detected. Before updating BIOS or anything else I would recommend you try the following: 1. Disconnect all drives from the system. 2. Install only the 850x in M.2 slot 1 (ultra M.2) 3. Make sure CSM is set to disabled in your BIOS 4. Press F12 during the POST process to pull up your boot menu and see if the drive is listed. If your operating system is installed on an MBR partition (CSM enabled) you will need to convert the boot drive to GPT or reinstall the OS on a drive formatted to GPT. There are guides on how to convert on youtube/google with a bit of a search. As far as I know (I do not work for/speak for ASRock) the 850x should work in theory as it claims to be backward compatible with PCIe Gen3. Looking on various tech forums however it seems fairly common for this drive to not be detected on 400 series AM4 boards. I have seen a few accounts where users were forced to purchase a PCIe M.2 adapter card and it worked when connected to that. If none of this helps then you can try opening a support ticket with ASRock: https://tw.asrock.com/events/tsd.asp They may not be able to help though if the drive is considered unsupported. I hope this helps. |
