Topic: X470D4U2-2T no POST after BIOS updatePosted: 18 hours 10 minutes ago at 1:40pm |

I have a problem with my X470D4U2-2T Server motherboard.
I was trying to install a Windows Server 2022 but it kept restarting when windows server setup was initializing. I thought a new bios update would fix it, as google AI was telling me, so I installed the latest BIOS, version 4.10 . Completed successfully, it asked for a restart but after that server never started again. Dr. debugger screen doesn't even light up to show an error code. I thought connecting to IPMI would be an option, even though i never used it before so I also tried connecting all the network ports to my router, but no new network device shows up in the list. BMC version is F/W P1.70.00 (never updated) , original BIOS was P3.30 (now should be 4.10). What can I do to fix this? The AI is suggesting me to buy a CH341A USB Programmer, remove the bios chip and flash it. Is this the only option? Edited by Xaltar - 17 hours 19 minutes ago at 2:31pm |

Try following the instructions here. That should flush any corrupt values
from your BIOS. Once you power the system back on again, leave it powered on for at least 10mins to rule out any pre-POST initialization that may be taking a while on first boot on the updated BIOS. If all that fails then open a support ticket with ASRock Rack: https://event.asrockrack.com/tsd.asp |

There is also a handy BMC (IPMI) user guide on your product page. It should have
all you need to log in and troubleshoot. Page 61 (64 in the PDF) is probably what will be most useful to you if the steps I listed didn't resolve the issue. Good luck. |

I removed power and battery yesterday and waited at least 12 hours before powering on, with no success.
Today I followed the instructions in the topic you posted and now i'm waiting for those 4 hours to expire. However, the motherboard doesn't have a CMOS jumper, just 2 metal contacts. I made connection between them with a wire for around 20 seconds before removing the battery. About the IPMI, I never used it before and I don't know if it is even active. I connected the motherboard to my router and no device shows up. (i tried all 3 network ports) Is there any way to connect to it? |

If you have already removed the battery for 12 hours with no power to the system
then its unlikely that the CMOS clear will make a difference. Worth a shot but I wouldn't get my hopes up. As for IPMI, I am afraid you will have to look up a guide or tutorial, I am not familiar enough with IPMI to be able to talk you through it. You can also open a support ticket using the link I provided in my first response, you can always keep troubleshooting while you wait for a reply. I think the board needs to be powered for IPMI to work, but as I said, I don't know enough about it to speak with any confidence. Sorry I can't be of more assistance, it's been a minute since I last worked with server/workstation boards and those were all SuperMicro for enterprise deployment. |
