Hello, I need some guidance on updating my X470 Gaming K4 motherboard to the latest BIOS version. My current version is 4.90, and if I update directly to 10.50, the PC will not boot afterwards and I have to manually roll it back to 4.90. Is there a required bridge BIOS version I should flash first? My CPU is a Ryzen 5700X.

That is odd, there isn't a bridge between 4.90 and 10.50 so it should just work.
When you update and power on, how long did you wait? Sometimes it can take a while for RAM training with some updates. I generally leave the system powered on for 10 mins, if it still isn't POSTing then there is some kind of issue. When updating I follow these steps: Enter BIOS and reset to defaults then reboot into OS and shut down Enter BIOS and update to latest version Shut down system and use clear CMOS jumper Power on and allow time for RAM training If that still isn't working open a support ticket with ASRock here: http://tw.asrock.com/events/tsd.asp The latest BIOS should just work with your setup. |

Since then I found out that one of my RAM modules was faulty. I removed the bad module, thoroughly tested the working one with memtest to be sure, and tried flashing the BIOS again ??this time to 10.60. No luck, boot loop, Dr. Debug shows nothing. Had to use my programmer again to unbrick motherboard. I tried flashing 10.60 manually with it ??same result. Flashed 4.90 ??everything works. Just to double-check, I flashed 10.60 again with an additional verification that the ROM was written correctly, and still nothing. In the end I rolled back to 4.90. Not sure what else could be the issue ??I guess I'll just stay on this version.

That shouldn't be happening, possibly RAM incompatibility with the new BIOS version?
If you haven't already, open a ticket with ASRock with the link I shared before. Be sure to include full system specs including your RAM make and model. Good luck
