X870E Taichi Lite No POST with A2+B2 RAM

X870E Taichi Lite ??128GB G.Skill kit will not POST in A2+B2 configuration

I?™m looking for some help resolving a memory installation/POST issue with an ASRock X870E Taichi Lite.

Hardware:

Motherboard: ASRock X870E Taichi Lite
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 128GB kit, 2?64GB
Exact RAM model: F5-6000J3040G64GX2-FX5
DDR5-6000, CL30
BIOS settings initially left at defaults/Auto; EXPO is not being used for initial testing.

The issue is specifically with installing the two DIMMs in the motherboard-recommended A2 + B2 slots.

With both 64GB DIMMs installed in A2 and B2, the system does not complete POST as expected. I am trying to determine whether this is a BIOS/memory-training issue, a compatibility issue with this particular 2?64GB kit, or potentially a motherboard/CPU memory-channel issue.

The kit is a matched 2?64GB kit, so the intended configuration is 128GB using two DIMMs. I specifically want to run two 64GB modules rather than populate all four DIMM slots.

I would appreciate guidance from ASRock or anyone running a similar configuration on the X870E Taichi Lite regarding:

Whether F5-6000J3040G64GX2-FX5 has been successfully tested on this board as a 2?64GB configuration.

Whether A2+B2 remains the required/recommended configuration for two DIMMs of this capacity.

Whether a particular BIOS version is required or recommended for 2?64GB DIMMs with a Ryzen 9000-series CPU.

Whether there are any known extended DDR5 memory-training requirements with 128GB installed.

Whether there are specific BIOS settings that should be changed before attempting the A2+B2 configuration.

What diagnostic procedure ASRock recommends to distinguish a DIMM issue from an A/B memory-channel, CPU/socket, or motherboard issue.

I?™m not concerned with achieving DDR5-6000/EXPO initially. My first objective is simply to get a stable POST with the full 128GB at JEDEC/default settings. Once that is stable, memory speed can be addressed separately.

Any ASRock-specific guidance would be appreciated, particularly from someone who has tested 2?64GB on this board.

One correction before you post it: you wrote ?œV2+B2??in your request, but the ASRock DIMM positions are A1, A2, B1, B2, so I used A2+B2, which is the normal two-DIMM terminology for this board.

Your F5-6000J3040G64GX2-FX5 RAM kit lists ASRock X870/E boards as compatible on
the G-Skill product page for your RAM. Your board's product page does not list
any G-Skil 64gb modules (2x64 for the 128gb kit) but it was last updated in July
so that doesn't mean it isn't compatible. The fact G-Skill lists your board in
particular in it's QVL means that G-Skill has tested it on your exact board.
There is no information regarding it being tested with 2 modules or just one however.
I would expect they tested both as a kit.

Yes, A2+B2 are the recommended slots.

You will want to use BIOS Flashback to update to the latest BIOS for your board
to ensure optimal RAM compatibility. BIOS 4.43 at the time of me writing this.

At first power on with a new system I typically leave the system powered for 20
minutes. Sometimes training can take a very long time on the first POST but will
POST almost instantly once training has been successfully completed. If after
20 minutes you still get no POST then try with a single stick in slot A2. If that
then POSTs you can shut down and install the second stick in slot B2 and see if
it POSTs again with both (I have had to do this on several builds over the years).
If you don't get POST with even a single stick of RAM then troubleshooting gets
tricky unless you have other RAM to test with. At this point (fails to POST with
a single stick in A2) the issue could be RAM or CPU, it is almost never the
motherboard though there is a small chance if it is damaged in transit/handling.
