ASrock B860I Wifi Won't post with RAM kit

   Hello Xaltar and others,

I opened a request at support yesterday but maybe someone can give me some tips in the meantime.

I have an ASrock B860I Wifi with an Intel Ultra 5 225 and 2 sticks DDR5 Patriot Viper PVV532G640C32K

In short : it doesn't post with that kit of DDR5. I cannot arrive to the UEFI.

I confirm that both of the sticks works on an other computer, and I confirm that other sticks of RAM works on the Asrock motherboard.

I tried both banks, both sticks, and to set the speed to 4800MT. Also did a clear CMOS. This is a brand new MB, CPU, RAM.

I updated to the latest bios 3.31 before those tests and like I said in the support request, I'm willing to try beta Bios.

	On the product page for your RAM I don't see B860 chipsets listed under the QVL: https://www.patriotmemory.com/products/viper-venom-ddr5-performance-ram I selected 32gb(2x16gb) and 6400mt/s, with these selected your model is the second on the list. It appears to be designed primarily for AMD systems with older 700 series intel chipsets also being supported. If you change 6400mt/s to 7000mt/s you will see 800 series chipsets now listed but for the 7000mt/s model. This may not mean anything but it does mean that Patriot have not validated your RAM model on intel 800 series boards. You can try a single module in slot A1 then if that fails in slot B1 and see if a single module will allow you to POST. Make sure to leave the system powered on for at least 10mins to allow for an overly long RAM training period.

	Nice catch on the Patriot site. With your experience, do you think an update of the UEFI will be built by the ASRock engineers £ I wonder if I should wait or just resell the kit and buy another one. By the way I tried already 1 stick at a time on both banks with no luck. I waited more than 10 mins also. I'm surprised that even at lower speed it won't post. Maybe a specific setting could help but there are so many.

	A BIOS level fix could get it working I suspect, given it was supported on the 700 series. In all likelihood the model simply predates the 800 series so was never tested with it. I have seldom seen manufacturers go back and validate new hardware with their older products. As for BIOS settings, your RAM kit is rated at 1.4v. I suspect your board likely defaults much lower than that. You can try bumping the RAM voltage manually to 1.4v and see if that gets it to wake up for you. Obviously you will want to disable XMP/EXPO to allow the system to use JEDEC values instead (enforced standards). Good luck
