Posted: 15 hours 21 minutes ago at 4:37am
Hi there. I have a Taichi Razer Edition AM4+ MB which has been great but as of yesterday I have been getting random quick freezes and a 4 tone beep, all short.
I have reset ram and tested.
Does anyone have the same issue, I have searched the tones and its unclear what they pertain to on the MB
Any help would be greatly appreciated

If it's 4 short beeps, even spacing then it could be your CMOS battery needs replacing,
if you are sure the RAM is fine (one of the other possible causes). 4 beeps where
the first is longer most often is a display cable issue however.

I am guessing based on your post that your system is POSTing and booting?

Hiya and thanks for the reply.
Yeah the system boots fine and runs well apart from the micro freezes and beeps.
I reseated all the ram, and tested 1 by 1 (I have 4 sticks)
The 4 beeps has gone tho, replaced by 2 standard beeps but not all the time, worse when I try and do anything intensive.
Its also coming from my speakers as opposed to directly off the MB.
The MB is about 6 years old now so I will get a new CMOS battery anyways.

Appreciate all the help

Sounds to me like the CMOS battery is weak and is messing with your RTC. That would
cause stuttering along the lines you described. If that's all it is, it's a nice
easy fix

Good call, sounds like the old paste had hardened and cracked with the stresses
of moving things around to get the new battery in. Stating the obvious for the sake
of anyone else reading this thread down the line who may not understand why you
decided to repaste the CPU.

Some fresh thermal paste and you should be golden, maybe for another 6 years
