Hello everyone.

I'm considering buying the DeskMini A300 barebone, but I'm unsure about its support for future CPU generation(s). There are many motherboard manufacturers that will provide BIOS updates for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 3000 series generation, ASRock among them. If you don't care to click on the link, the news says that BIOS updates will be provided for ASRock motherboards with X470/B450/X370/B350 and A320 chipsets.

As far as I'm aware, the board in the A300 barebone is based on the A320 chipset, so any next gen APU should be supported as well. But, having had some really bad experience with continued support for custom solutions like this one, I thought I'd better ask and get official confirmation before any purchase.

If nobody knows, I'll probably go and build my own based on a Mini-ITX form-factor board. That isn't nearly as compact, but it has advantages too, such as the option to reuse some RAM instead of having to buy SO-DIMMs.

Thanks for your help,
MajorPryce

Considering how recent the A300 Deskmini is I highly doubt it will be left out as far as future APU support is concerned. If A320 chipset boards have support then I am pretty sure the Deskmini will get it too, it just wouldn't make sense not to. After all, AM4's key advantage is support for multiple generations of the Ryzen architecture, not taking advantage of that would be foolish of any manufacturer. Still, if you want a concrete answer, you can contact ASRock Tech Support and ask: https://www.asrock.com/support/index.asp
