I have a Z370 Professional Gaming i7 board with 3 x M.2 WD Green 250GB SSD for 3 independently bootable OS.
These 3 x M.2 SSDs block all SATA3 ports because of shared lanes as far as I understand it. I wanted to connect a 2 TB Crucial MX500 SSD on SATA3 ports A1 / A2 because these are not controlled by the Intel on-board controller but by a seperate ASMedia controller but in UEFI no device is detected. Am I doing something wrong? The SSD is detected when connected through a SATA-to-USB adapter so the device itself is fine. Thanks for helping me out! |

Dear Fbkreon,
Thank you for posting. Regarding your question, let try to switch to the SATA3_2 port to see if it will work. If it still will not work: -Kindly try with a different SATA cable. -Remove all of the WD M.2 to see if the HDD can be detected. -Check the disk manager under Win10 to see if it is listed under the Win10. Dear ASRock TSD,
thanks for your quick reply. 1) I tried with three different cables (2 included with mainboard and one seperate) but no results 2) I removed all m.2 SSDs but still no connection detected 3) I don't have Win10 installed, only macOS Catalina and as I mentioned before, when I connect the Crucial MX500 via SATA-to-USB adapter it is detected straight away. I have the latest UEFI version installed and enabled hot-plug support plus third-party SATA support (I guess it is required for ASMedia on-board controller?). All SATA ports 0-6 are configured for SSD mode and hot-plug mode. I cannot configure A1 and A2 ports at all, is that normal? Kind regards Fbkreon |

Dear fbkreon,
Thanks for the reply. We have checked the case with the following configuration: MX500 SSD 256GB (Since we do not have the MX500 with the size of 2TB) P4.20 CPU 8400 We connect the MX500 to both ASMedia SATA ports or native SATA ports, the SSD will always show under the BIOS. For the Hotplug function the following settings must be enabled: Advanced\Storage Configuration\ASMedia SATA3 Hotplug. Once entering the Win10, hotplug were are able to be used properly. Please try connecting different HDD/SSD to the ASMedia ports and check if the ports are working properly. For further assistance, kindly fill out the form below and send the email to ASRock technical support. https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp With thanks, ASRock TSD |

Dear ASRock TSD,
thank you again for your quick reply! I found out that I had to replace the sata power cable due to a broken port. Now the MX500 gets detected on A1 and A2 port even with 3 mounted m.2 SATA SSDs. Thank you for all your support! |
