Hi guys,

I bought a second-hand x370 Killer sli/ac to replace an older board, and as I went to update the BIOS to get a Ryzen 3000 CPU working on it, I found out the BIOS that was actually on the motherboard was the BIOS for an x370 Taichi, version p4.60. I tried to update it using the x370 Killer sli/ac BIOS, but it wouldn't show up in the instant flash (I tried versions 4.70, 5.10, 5.60, 5.80, and 6.00). So I tried a BIOS for the x370 Taichi, which showed up for a split second then disappeared (I have my USB drive plugged into a USB 2.0 on the motherboard, and it's formatted to FAT32). I have tried to reset CMOS and see if that helps, and it didn't work. Windows is also super slow and laggy, and I cannot download anything on it without my PC crashing. Is there any way to fix this? (I have also read that you can switch out the BIOS chip on certain motherboards, and am not sure if you can do that on this board)

Thanks, Fonzie

my best guess here is that the previous owner force flashed a taichi bios onto it
(this is a bit of a fuss but you can do it , its more predominant on the x370 taichi to force flash the x470 bios on it though)
technically you could try to use rufus etc to force flash a killer bios back onto it

google x370 taichi to find a forum with overclocking in the title
there is a thread on there with literally hundreds of posts
including instructions for owners to force the x470 bios onto the x370

alter the guide to force the x370 killer bios onto your board

i wouldnt normally link someone to a risky procedure invalidating warrentys
but in your case your already well out of asrocks cover due to hardware being messed with already

Thanks for the reply! Could I ask about how far down the instructions are? Also, if this method doesn?™t work as planned I was thinking about buying a ch341a programmer and chip clip to put the BIOS on the chip, would that also work? Thanks

i googled
x470 bios onto x370 taichi

the results were there in second group

i must repeat this is not offical advice
it its what
I WOULD DO hypothetically in a situation like yourself

the rom chip programmer is also an option
with varying results on the quaility of the equipment you end up getting
