I am trying to install corsair vengeance Lpx 2x8gb 3600MHz ram but the slots C2 and D2 just will not detect any ram. I?™ve tried reinstalling them many times, I?™ve tried reseating the cpu (threadripper 2970wx) many times, I?™ve tried rearranging them many times. They all work when in either A2 or B2 but never C2 or D2. Are my DIMM slots bad?

With TR4 sockets this is usually a CPU seating issue. I must have reseated my CPU
half a dozen times before I got all my slots to be recognized when I built my system. Look up a good guide on installing a threadripper CPU and follow it closely. Barring physical damage to the board it is highly unlikely to be a board issue. Either the CPU isn't seated correctly or the CPU has a damaged channel on it's IMC. 99.99% of the time it's a seating problem though. Uneven pressure when tightening down the socket's screws is a common culprit. |
