I am testing a new build, still not in the case. I have x399 fatality & 1900x TR CPU with aircooler with two fans (arctic).

I did not install an OS yet, and when checking the temperature in the BIOS, CPU is at 69 to 73°c range (increases gradually by 0.5 every few sec).

Motherborad temp at 27°, +1.5 from room temp.

VR temp at 30°C.

I have changed the thermal paste twice (arctic mx-4)

Bois ver: 3.80

Any help/suggestion?

I want to add: although BIOS reading of CPU temp is around 69-73°C, the heatsink of the air cooler feels normal not even warm or hot.

Could this be a sensor problem?

Update:
I downloaded win 10, and checked the temp using three software:
1) HWMonitor: min 31°c max 43°C.

2) core temp: min 32°c max 43°c

3) NZXT CAM:29°c

These readings seems reasonable, in contrary to the BIOS reading, which 69°c to 73°c range.

Any help in fixing this issue?
Which one should I trust?

The BIOS reads the Tctl sensor (thermal control) temp which uses an offset to
ensure rapid and reliable fan control. The offset for Threadripper is +27°C so
your reported temp in BIOS is actually 44c which is perfectly normal for the
load the UEFI puts on the system. Unlike the older BIOS system, the UEFI
actually applies a fair amount of load to one of the cores which results in a
load temp in BIOS rather than an idle one.

I have to admit, it freaked me out a little when I built my TR system too. I
thought I had forgotten to remove the plastic film from my waterblock
In other words, everything is functioning correctly and your upper temp in OS
of 43c is perfectly in line with the temp in the BIOS.
