I'm building a home media server with the j4205-itx MB, setting up Ubuntu Server 16.10.
I need an automatic fan control to be done by my OS, but lm-sensors does not detect any fans and temp sensors except the CPU's integrated temp sensor.
Could you please suggest how to setup j4205-itx fan control in Ubuntu 16.10?

Please, could someone elaborate what kind of chipset has j4205-itx motherboard? Maybe then I could find something about this issue...

IMO from my short experience is a nice board for energy-efficient purposes, but inability to control fan by Linux is a serious flaw. This board has passive cooler for CPU, so without extra fan is silent, but in time of hard computing it could always use a fan - if not for cpu, then for i.e. hard drives. The best scenario would be to keep fan completely stopped, when computer is in idle, and spin it during demanding tasks. Unfortunately BIOS provided by ASRock lacks options to operate fan that way :(

OK, after all that crying above I found a solution. To make fancontrol on Linux you need nct6775 kernel module https://github.com/groeck/nct6775
Compile
put nct6770.ko into /lib/modules/[your kernel]/
modprobe nct6775
sensors-detect
Now there is a lot more stuff there and pwmconfig works.

I have a similar fan control issue for my 4105-itx. However when I try to use the kernel's nct6775 driver, it gives an error:
ERROR: could not insert 'nct6775': No such device
Any ideas?
