   And... here comes the solution!
[SOLVED!]

The power supply that was brand new I had bought was deffective. It turned out it smelled of burnt metal and I unplugged it completely to avoid the risk of fire and bought a new Corsair PSU and the system has POSTed and I'm happily running everything beautifully for the first time today! Successful overclock from 3.0 Ghz to 3.3 and stress-testing the CPU now with Prime 95 at a very low temp thanks to my water cooler that I just bought with the PSU.

Edit +THANK YOU Inet for your original suggestion in trying with a new PSU as you were the ones who saved the day by testing with your own in-store PSU "just a feeling" --you guys are good!

...So nothing was wrong with the motherboard... it was a power issue.
