970 Performance SATA3_0 and SSD question

Okay I sort of solved that issue.  If I have a SSD on a card plugged into PCie I can't use the SATA Port 0 socket!

 Also I cannot have two PCIe cards with SSDs' or the system gets confused thinking they are both SATA 0 so I can however, have the second SSD plugged into the PCIe's expansion port and the system will see on as ) and the other as 1

I'm guessing the SSD adapter card is in slot PCIE5?

If so, then that seems to fit your board's specs, in a roundabout way:

6 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s Connectors, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10), NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug

1 x M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket 3, supports M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen2 x4 (20 Gb/s) (M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket 3 is shared with the SATA3_0 connector)

If M.2 PCI Express module is installed, PCIE5 slot will be disabled.

So if the PCIE5 slot is in use, the M.2 slot won't be available. Since the M.2 slot shares resources with the SATA3_0 port, it follows it won't work too.

This is due to the limited number of PCIe 2.0 lanes that the 970 chipset provides.

This is also an example of why a detailed and exact description of the situation, such as which PCIE slots are being used, is critical in analyzing the problem.
