I see where the UEFI/BIOS fix from intel for Spectre / Meltdown has been causing random reboots:
- http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=7175&PID=43779&title=bios-update-for-spectre-and-meltdown-for-older-mbs#43779 - http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-spectre-reboot-update-tested,36378.html I believe intel has recommended all mobo vendors pull their UEFI/BIOS fixes from respective websites, and that ASRock is no exception. However, in my case I was able to grab and install the UEFI update for my x299e-itx/ac (v 1.40) on the day of its release a week or two ago. Now, I've patched the BIOS without issue and have not experienced any random reboots, in fact the system has been plain solid. Again, the x299e-itx/ac is only capable of running Skylake-X CPUs. My plan is to go forward using the version I have installed now, and not downgrade my UEFI. Any thoughts this is the wrong course of action? TIA Edited by jclausius - 24 Jan 2018 at 11:47pm |
