What driver revision is the ASM 1142 3.1 controller using?
I have the latest here for, yes, FOR, Win10x64. If it's newer I'll create a link to d/l. Edited by wardog - 28 Dec 2015 at 9:19pm |

Z170 extreme 4
6700K MSI 780 Ti Gaming Corsair RM850 PSU 4 x 8GB Crucial Balistix sport LT 2400 DDR4 2 SSD, 2 HDD PSU is new, along with everything else except GPU I have solved the waking on AC restore. I had Wake on USB enabled too. The first boot after AC restore (before it's supposed to turn off and stay off) would turn on the USB hub in my monitor, which brings the keyboard on (plugged into monitor). Which then wakes the computer up. After turning this USB wake off, it comes on once and then turns off and remains off. I've had STR turned off (and various other devices not allowed to turn off with the windows settings) and have had no issues waking the machine from idle (not that sleep is enabled, but monitor/kb are off). So I guess my remaining issues are 1) CSM seems to be turned back on when you check again in bios 2) Asmedia 1142 controller reliability (possibly driver related, there are none in the downloads section). Still, overall I am pleased with the board, a MSI gaming pro wouldn't even boot if all 4 RAM slots were used (and stopped working after reboot from "sucessful" bios update).

Ricimer, please list with make/model ALL the hardware inside your case if you would be so kind.
Also, how old is the PSU? |

Oh, it also wakes when power is restored to the psu, it comes on, it goes off, then it wakes up again and boots.
I have wake on AC restore *off* though. Also I can't disable CSM, every time I go back into the bios, it's turned on again.

6700K 32GB Crucial 2400MHz RAM Windows 8.1 x64 I have been having a few issues however. 1) Machine left overnight, unable to wake it (sleep disabled). Machine had stopped responding with no errors in the middle of a long robocopy, no display output and it turned off immediately when I pressed the power button. USB also non functional, this may be related to 2. I'm not running an OC, and had all settings as auto, except LLC at level 4 (which I think is intel spec). This is now back on auto. 2) ASMedia USB 3.1 controller keeps disappearing. When I look in device manager it is often greyed out, it usually comes back if I reboot, I have had no devices plugged into it at any time. I have not installed a driver (windows seems to use a built in one). Rescanning in device manager when it has gone does not bring it back. During one rescan for devices, all other USB ports were disconnected, keyboard and mouse stopped responding, the network connection also disconnected! (with log entry to say this too) I thought the machine had crashed, yet I could see task manager updating on the second screen, device scan did not completed, network remained off, short power button press did not initiate shutdown. For now I have disabled the Asmedia controller, but it would be nice to use it in the future. 3) While much improved over 1.0 bios it shipped with, 2.40 still crashes occasionally when in the UEFI setup.
