for me with 13600kf
the only thing i touched was load xmp profile and onboard leds=off ![]() after reboot i check and it is set to: pl1=181W pl2=181W cpu core current limit=200A ![]() |

From what I know the microcode settings that have been modified to prevent cpu degradation are stuff that we don't have control of like the hard 1.55v limit or the tvb table. You don't even get to see the table anymore in the latest asrock bios, at least I can't in my B760m steel legend.
The other power settings that are getting applied by default, even though they do not match Intel specs, they are actually lower than what Intel recommends. So this should not degrade your cpu in any way. Although I will suggest to lower the ACLL to undervolt the cpu a bit. |

THis is not what is getting set when the DEFAULT profile is loaded. Selecting the DEFAULT results in: PL1=125 Watt PL2=181 Watt ICCMAX=200 Amp So what's the deal? How do we ensure we are at the correct microcode settings? |

Ya by override I think you mean the option to switch to x104 microcode. Also my i5 mostly hovers around 1.32v avg VID with peak at 1.42v, and around 1.28v avg Vcore with peak at 1.37v while playing games. My custom settings are: CPU Vcore Compensation Level 1 PL1 and PL2 125w Iccmax 200A ACLL 0.75, DCLL 1.10 LLC Level 5 |

baseline is more conservative, so i don't think you damaged anything by using that. you can see in the image I posted a few posts up. With default profile it will probably run a bit hotter than the baseline profile does, so tweaking the voltage for an undervolt is probably needed, esp since you had to on baseline.
the microcode will be loaded no matter what, but I think you can 'override' it with your settings. With i5, vCore should be nowhere near the critical level, and the multiplier is also 53 or lower, so a lot less worries than i9. |

Ok thanks. I was using baseline all this time but with custom power settings to reduce power draw, voltage and temps. Hopefully I haven't degraded my cpu this way. I was using it because 2 months back people were recommending that to me when I asked in a reddit thread.
Does the baseline degrade the cpu or is it just too performance conservative too use? Does the Intel microcode fix apply in baseline as well? |

Can anybody confirm which power profile is Intel recommended?
I have a B760m Steel Legend board with a 13600k. I have two options: BIOS default and Baseline Which one should I use? |

I think this is supposed to happen on the default profile, pl4 on IA and Ring. I'm guessing it just means TVB kicked in because you're over 70 DegC. I've heard rising iccmax to 240A could help, but seems the wrong way to go about it. Haven't checked this myself (yet) as a found the performance loss was minimal in for ex. cb23. There I noticed about 1k loss in multi score. In games I didn't notice it at all. Right now i'm on defaults just to see how that's working out, but at some stage I'll start tweaking the settings again, if anything useful comes out I'll post back.
On performance profile it does not happen, but you will go slightly out of intel spec. As long as you're not pushing over 1.5V VCore or extreme multipliers I would not worry too much with an i5, but if you want to stay in spec, I guess you have to get used to it. |
