the number of PCI lanes isn't the most important part here, but if the motherboard supports splitting a PCIe slots into 4/4/4/4 as that's what the ASRock M.2 card needs, similar to the Asus M. 2 card. I know the Asus Prime Deluxe supports it... Check the manual

I do not know for sure but since your cpu has only 28 pcie lanes it would have to be in the main pcie slot, only cpu with 44 lanes support cards like that in secondary pcie 16x slots.

Hi, does anyone know if you can use the new Asrock ultra quad m.2 x16 card on a asus motherboard? My setup is as follows: Intel 7800x CPU Asus Tuf Mark II X299 Motherboard Asus 1070Ti Video card Corsair Vengeance 2400 Memory cards 8GB X4 Kit Evo 250GB 960 M.2 X1 OS drive Evo 500GB 960 M.2 x2 Raid drives WD 4TB Sata drive x1 Storage Corsair HX850 Power Supply.
