Hi All,
Just bought a new computer to replace my old one which was 8 or so years old. it has a ASRock x99 Taichi with an INTEL 6 core I-7 6800K. I've had it for about 3 weeks no and have had nothing but problems. My local computer builder has suggested that I should try to re-flash the UEFI. I've tried this using the internet flash function in the UEFI setup. It comes back with a message that I already have the most current version and won't go any further. Therefore I need a link to a downloadable copy of P1.40 UEFI. I have searched the ASrock web site for several hours with no success. Can anyone give me some direction to where I might find said downloadable flash image? This is the first motherboard that I've had a problem with and also the first with UEFI/BIOS. Thanks. |

Thanks in advance

Alf,
Holy sheet Bat Man. We're neighbors. I'm here up the street in AJ. Use Instant Flash method from within the BIOS. Internet Flash can and usually hoses a BIOS, FYI. The Instant Flash image you want to use from within the BIOS is the top one, 7.74MB, on the below page. Look in your manual for instruction using Instant Flash. Basically, format a USB stick FAT32, download and extract the *.140 BIOS image to the stick, insert it into a native USB 2.0 port on the rear I/O, fire up Instant Flash, it'll show the .140 file, and press Enter on your keyboard. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Taichi/#BIOS Drop me a PM sometime if you'd like to meet up. |

I didn't think of this at time I posted originally yet your MB has a B(ackup) BIOS that is designed to re-flash the A(normal operations) BIOS. And even more functionality too using the "Secure Backup UEFI".
See and read completely the section "BIOS Selection Switch" and the gray highlighted box below it on pg.28 of the manual. Down below PCIE5 are your two BIOS chips, with a sticker over each on which is printed the BIOS revision it came flashed to during its production. What's printed on the sticker(s)? |
