I am using the Noctua NH-D9L single fan Air cooler on x99m fatality killer. 531grams.

http://noctua.at/en/nh-d9l

Since the MOBO is installed vertically in the case, will it handle this weight?. Not sure if most of the weight is at the heatsink , the pipes or at the grille. Following the install instructions,  there was no additional back plate needed to attach the cooler.

Thanks

Noctua states it will, for what that's worth.

I don't really see problem but I will caution of being careful while moving and or transporting it. That didn't need said but I threw it out there just because.

IIRC it's like 450g or so that the manufacturers did at one time limit the "safe' weight. You'll be good there as it appears the board you have has a metal backplate attached from the factory.

Just be cautious when moving it that you don't accidentally drop it that last foot Ouch

I use a Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 CPU cooler on my X99 Extreme6/3.1 board.

It weighs 900 grams without fans.

I also use a Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler on my Z170 Extreme7+ board. It also weighs 900 grams without fans.

The new NH-D15 weighs 980 grams without fans.

Noctua has been selling these coolers for years, and if they were breaking mother boards, would have been out of business long ago. Epoxy impregnated fiber glass mother boards are very strong.
