I actually got an e-mail back this morning!  (Holy cow!)   They attached a beta bios that I'm going to test out and get back to them on.

@Kelxin: i am very interessted in your testing results.

Also i want to inform you on this thread, that I asked the Asrock support and got this answer:

We are planning to update the bios for Kaby lake support for this board around the end of April.( These are in Lab phase at the moment) Please keep an eye on our website.

So hopefully your beta is working well.

@Kelxin: Any updates on the testing?
I was a bit too trigger happy and ended up buying a kaby lake CPU, and as stated here, it won't even post.
I'm currently considering if I should utilize the very user friendly return policy the store is offering and just wait until a new bios is released before re-buying or buying another model.

My other concern is how I'm going to update the bios without a successful post. Is that even possible? What does Asrock recommend in this situation?

Replied to another post by accident and lost my original login as the OP

I have been a very patient grasshopper, and when I wasn't looking the E3 1245v6 is now available in Australia.

I have been planning my build and researching my requirements settling on the Skylake CPU that I was about to buy this week. But now I am back to researching and waiting to see if issues everyone is posting about do indeed get resolved in a timely fashion. Beginning of May is my deadline but realistically tested to launch in May.

I have not bought ram as yet and am wondering whether the Kaby Lake CPU have an effect on the ram for the C236 MB.  I have read that Kaby Lake supports up to 2400MHz ram and wonder if the more prevalent registered ECC ram sticks might be used instead of unbuffered.

I too am exhibiting symptoms of trigger happiness.

I'll get back to being patient........

Consider that not only did you post your question in another person's thread, but you didn't even read the first page of posts, which would have answered your question. Confused

As is the case with EVERY Intel new/cross processor generation usage in the previous generation's chipset board, you CANNOT update the UEFI when using the new generation processor, since it will not POST, so you cannot use the UEFI update utility in the UEFI.

This is an Intel issue that they have never been able to fix, which goes back over five years. Your only options are, to replace the UEFI/BIOS chip in the board with a pre-loaded Kaby Lake compatible UEFI version (IF the board has a replaceable UEFI chip, that is not always the case anymore), or somehow get a Skylake processor in the board to perform the UEFI update with the Kaby Lake compatible UEFI version.

The store you bought the board from might provide the service to update the UEFI with a Skylake generation processor for you.

No, Kaby Lake E3 Xeons can't use reg ECC. No change in that regard.

I use 2x 16 GB Crucial CT16G4XFD824A
Since I am still running a Skylake it is limited to 2133 MHz of course.

Hey Chrys

The Ram you linked to is 2400MHz, and you are using that with the Skylake CPU?  Am I reading this correctly?

I am looking at the 16gb Crucial CT16G4WFD8213  or 16g Kingston KVR21E15D8/16

I checked my mobo and it has a removable bios chip, and on the sticker it has C236_WSI P1.00

I'm getting ready to pounce should that beta prove successful.

So, I contacted support today and received the following message:
Kaby Lake BIOS support is still on finalizing stage. Once it is ready, the official version will be publicly released. For now, please temporarily use the unofficial version until the public release.

Attached to the support email was BIOS ROM v2.08 for the C236 WSI. I "instant flash"d it to my C236 and it's working perfectly with the G3930 I stupidly bought without proper research. I'm not sure if it's against the rules or anything but here's the zip for v2.08 that I was sent: C236 WSI(2.08)ROM.zip
I assume that P2.10 will be the final version once everything is vetted. Luckily v2.08 is tying me (and my client) over for now.

Awesome REALfreaky!!!!!!

AsRock Instant Flash link

Instructions:
"ASRock Instant Flash is an exclusive and the most user-friendly BIOS flash utility developed by ASRock. It is embedded in Flash ROM which is used to update the system BIOS without having to enter operating systems like MS-DOS or Windows."

REALfreaky,  can you clarify if you used the Kaby Lake CPU  to flash or did you first use a compatible CPU in order to flash and POST then install Kaby Lake.

I am going to buy a Xeon  E3 1245v6 that has the graphics processor for on board graphics.  Do I need to use a separate GPU in order to see BIOS screen to flash ?
